The Commis Chef plays a key role in supporting the kitchen team by assisting in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and efficiency. In a fast-paced restaurant and café environment, the Commis Chef ensures that all dishes are prepared according to recipes, presented consistently, and delivered on time during busy service periods.
Key Responsibilities:Assist in the preparation of ingredients (chopping, marinating, portioning, etc.) for daily service. Cook and plate dishes following the restaurant’s recipes and standards. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas. Follow proper food safety, handling, and storage procedures. Support senior chefs by completing assigned tasks efficiently and accurately. Ensure stock levels are maintained; report low items to supervisors. Assist with receiving, labeling, and storing food deliveries. Work effectively as part of a team during high-volume service periods. Maintain consistency, portion control, and quality for all menu items. Follow instructions from the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and Chef de Partie.
